How to re-enrol Microsoft Authenticator on a new phone
To protect the security of our user accounts, we use Multifactor Authentication. If you have a new phone, you will need to download and re-enrol the Microsoft Authenticator app used by this process.
You can download this from the App Store, or from Google Play.
Once that is done you will need to sign into to the Office Portal (using an alternative authentication method) and navigate to the security info page.
Here you will see the methods for authentication that have been enrolled on your account. The Microsoft Authenticator App is the preferred method as it is the most secure.
It is good to have alternative methods in case you cannot use Authenticator for any reason. If you are unable to use any of these methods then you will need assistance from the IT Help Desk.

- From this page, remove the entry for Authenticator, if it is still there.
- Then add a method and select authenticator from the security info page in your browser.
- The add a new account in Authenticator and scan the QR code from the security page.
- Then double check that Authenticator is your default method.
Once done, log out and log back in to test the authentication works and then you are good to go.
